Creating a belt design that is classy and elegant yet at the same time has its own distinctive character is always an interesting challenge. There is a delicate balance to be struck between detail that enhances and detail that distracts. So when we came up with our new 'Hancock' style, named after ground-breaking jazz artist Herbie Hancock, we were inspired to keep things minimal with just a hint of contemporary style to show that sense of individuality. We started out using our cordovan effect leather which once hand burnished reveals a rich depth of tone and colour and then under the surface inserted sleek S shaped ridges which we have highlighted by embellishing with their own stitch detail. These ridges repeat along the strap every 25cms and once the belt is hand polished show a little extra tonal contrast to subtly add extra life to the belt. We feel that this belt could be used for both formal and smart casual occasions - great for a suit, smart trousers or denim. In this deep choc colour you have a warm, rich tone that has subtle milk chocolate tones poking through that bring the belt to life...this is a belt that will sit wonderfully on earthy tones, navy, tan, black, grey, chinos or denim, the tonality making it easy to wear and pair up, either toning in with your clothes or matching up with almost any tone of darker brown shoes. We have gone with a sleek buckle that mixes gunmetal with satin gunmetal - liking the way the gunmetal takes on the brown tones for a lovely tonal feel whilst keeping the belt looking elegant and sharp with the focus clearly on the design, texture and colour. Wear this style and people will know you are willing to experiment with the smallest of details to create your own individuality - like the jazz maestro the belt is named after!
